Whats the best way to paint stripes on a wall using 2 colors?

I am painting a nursery and I was wanting to paint stripes. I am only going from the middle of the wall to the bottom. The top half will be a third color. The bottom half will be separated from the top half with a border. My colors are pastel yellow and pastel green for the stripes and a cream for the top. Can anyone help me make this process as easy as possible.Whats the best way to paint stripes on a wall using 2 colors?
Use a level to draw a line where the top of the border will be, then paint everything below it with the yellow paint. You don't have to go right up to the line, as that area will be covered. Once the yellow paint dries, use the level to draw the lines for the stripes and tape along them with blue painters tape (tape should be to the side of the line you want to remain yellow). Press the edge of the tape firmly down so that paint cannot get under it, if you have a textured wall, you can paint a little clear gloss over the edge of the tape to seal it. Use a brush to paint along the edges of the stripes, making sure you are brushing either straight up and down or slightly in towards the work area; this is again to make sure you don't force paint under the tape. Peel the tape off carefully while the stripes are still wet, and fill in the body of the stripes with a roller or wider brush.Whats the best way to paint stripes on a wall using 2 colors?
When people mention blue painters tape they mean low adhesion type tapes. This will help stop your masking tape from removing your fresher paint, from past experience I have found that painting the wall with one of the colours first works the best. Allow at least 24hrs for your paint to dry, a couple of days if you can. Measure your wall and Davide it up into the sections for your stripes and mark with a gray lead, use the tape on the outer of your stripes as a guide. I found that if you can get good coverage with one coat and peel your tape away from the paint after drying, you wont get a buildup of paint on the edges. HINT! make sure you wipe over your tape firmly so the paint does not seep under the edges. Probably better to use a brush for the stripes as a roller will lay the paint on very thick, make sure you lay the paint off with your brush straight up and down. Hope this helps Marty Down under
I did this technique in my daughter's room and must say I was glad when it was finished! But, first we took a long level and went all around the room marking off the line where the bottom color, on the wall would end. Then we measured up 5'; I think, Again going all the around the room to make sure we were at 5';. Then again with the level drawing a line. I started painting the bottom color first. Used painters tape as a guide where to stop painting. When not very dry, removed the tape, started on the top color, again protecting the middle. You may get better answers, but we did it and it turned out pretty nice! Good Luck!
I would paint the whole section with the lighter colour and then paint in the darker stripes. If you use a plumb bob and chalk line this will give you perfectly vertical stripes. You can improvise a plumb bob and chalk line, which is a piece of cord wiith a small weight on the end. You run chalk all over the cord. You hang it against the wall and the weight hangs perfectly vertical. Then you pull the string tight, keeping the precise vertical position, and twang the cord. This will leave a chalk line on the wall. Lightly pencil it in and then paint to it. (or put masking tape to the chalk line)
Use masking tape to get nice crisp lines down the edges of the stripes and paint inbetween and it doesn't matter if you get it on the tape. I painted stripes on my wall using this method the result was perfect! I also used a level so they werent wonky and measured out the width of each stripe. It was good fun.

You should paint the whole thing first in one colour (the weakest colour first which would be yellow) and then the green stripes over it.

Good Luck
The best way to do it is to paint the wall the lighter color first, let it dry, then measure out your stripes and use painters tape to line them. You should use a Straight edge or level and a very light pencil mark to mark your edges to keep them lined up perfectly straight.

Good Luck and Happy New Year!
Place down tape. Electrical, masking, whatever wont hurt the wall. Paint up to (and slightly onto) the tape, then remove the tape and place it over the edge of the lower color, so above it is only blank wall. Then just paint the top, that way they wont mix into each other and will be a clean line.
Use one brush poured with yellow color and the other with green color then kept both in the same hand and then try to paint smoothly, hope this will help you out.........

But why not you try mirror painting in a nursery, I think it will more workable..........

Try using blue painters tape. Place it on the first applied paint after it has thoroughly dried overlapping about an inch. Or if it's where you can you might try using whats chair rail molding to separate the colors.
I used a chalk line then while painting used a piece of cardboard along the line as i painted ... I did this because I did not want to use painters tape because I was afraid if I put it on the new paint it would pull it off the new paint
There is no reasont o paint the whole wall one color first if you take your time and tape off the stripes with a laser level.
depends on how small you wasnt your stripes, you can use a small paint roller brush which will help with keeping it neat and straight
Use masking tape :0) that way the lines are perfect and the colours wont run into each other x
Use tape for separation and a nice smooth line =D

i have used it on nursery and rooms and works good..

hope i helped Good Luck
