Can you have too many different color paint on your walls in your house?

heres what i want to do to our main floor and im not sure if its too much painting...our family room is currently white but we have a brown and tan sectional. it is all brown with brown and tan big pillows. We want to paint one wall dark brown and two tan. Then our kitchen runs off our family room so we want to paint that dark brown and our dining and living room run together and we want those dark marroon because our colors in there are dark brown marron tan and gold. Then our entry way we want to paint all tan. Its a really tall entry way with cathedrall ceilings? what do you think?? to busy or not?Can you have too many different color paint on your walls in your house?
if you use more than one color you need to get a color card or wheel and they should be on the same color pallet and use the paint store people to find accent colors that work well with your main paint colors. most interior designers can really help and choosing paint colors takes such a little time that it is a good idea to ask a designer to help(and pay them a nominal fee). keep in mind that most people are at least a little color blind! its also a good idea to paint a sample area and check it out throughout the day's different light and even on cloudy days...as light can dramatically change one's perception of a colorCan you have too many different color paint on your walls in your house?
I think that if your rooms all run together they should be one colour but if they are separate rooms then you can have the different colours..I like the colours you have chosen, but I don't know the layout of your house..I have a house that is all open so I kept one colour throughout..if you love the colours then paint them..it is your house..but if you have to stop one colour on a wall to start another colour to mark the beginning of another room, then I would not do that. Personally I like one colour so the house all flows together and the rooms all blend..I chose other colours for the bedrooms and bathrooms.
it all depends. i think that you should do one wall in the living room dark brow, and then the tan like you said, in the kitchen, either do tan or dark brown all over because its connected with the living room, for the entry, i would do is paint it dark brown because dark colors make tall spaces seem lower. i LOVE the idea of doing maroon, just make sure that theres not more than 3 colors..and blend them in to make them look good!!
Yoikes! I applaud your enthusiasm, now lets just promote some inspiration and expand your options a little. Check out some design magazines and you will see examples or good color schemes. Sherwin williams has a way to try out room colors online. Play around with your ideas and try adding contrast... good Design is Unity AND Variety.

Try a soft blue for your living room to Complement your sofa. Try the tan in the livingroom and diningroom, and brown in the kitchen. Paint the entry way the color of the room you want your guests to head for first, livingroom?

kitchen'; etc. You are thinking about the unified look and thats good design sense.
you should always go liter or darker from your main colour
