My grandson wants me to paint a big firetruck and race cars on his new bedroom walls any ideason drawing them?

First you need to consider that your grandson will outgrow this one day and you have a RED firetruck and race cars painted on a wall that you will need to cover and re-paint when he does decide on something different.

Go easy on the paint. There are plenty of bedspreads, curtains, and bedroom accessories you can get to make he dream come true.My grandson wants me to paint a big firetruck and race cars on his new bedroom walls any ideason drawing them?
I have seen many good suggestions here. One thing you might want to try, as other have suggested, is getting a mural, wallpaper or cutouts to make the job easier. Most likely it will look even better than if you did the whole job yourself. Here is a web site with different cutouts that you could paste onto the wall then you could even draw little roads or add whatever you wanted to augment the theme you are trying to create.

The easiest way to do this, is to hire me, but this we can't do that, take a projector, project the image upon the wall and trace it, then paint it. IT's easy, simple. I could do it freehand. But we're probably not even close to one another. I hope that this helps. Good Luck. If you use acrylic, you can paint over it in the future.
GET STINCELS OR CALL THE LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL ART TEACHER AND ASK HER IF SHE WOULD LIKE A PROJECT FOR HER ADVANCED STUDENTS.
First of all... if your going to paint straight on to the walls, pick a picture of a truck that he likes, but yet is simple in its lines, and use a projector to get the image onto the wall. That way you don't have to worry if you can't free hand the drawing. Next thing to consider is - is he going to be ';into'; the firetrucks and cars a long time or is this a phase. If you want you can buy duck cloth at a local fabric store by the yard. It is simular to canvas, but much cheaper. You than do your painting on it instead of the wall. You hang the peice like wallpaper or staples. Wash it before you paint on it as it does shrink and when you are done painting spray a clear coat of protector on it. That way when he outgrows it you can take it down roll it up and store it for future use by future generations. this is a technique used by many muralist, especially those on the internet to keep the cost down, and they can work from home and mail the painting to you.
O My! I just did this for my nephews room a year ago, except it was a train! I found all of the pictures of trains and he picked his favorite. I was able to free hand most of it, but it depends on how big he wants it to be. Say to cover a 3*4 section on the wall, check with local schools to see if they have a projector to use, some churches have them. It really depends on how big you want it. Primer the wall first, then try to freehand, it will take a while, but your grandson will be happy for about a week, then he will tell you he wants his room another way!
use a still movie procector inlarge picture on wall and trace or take the easy route and talk him into border paper with what he wants. put it at top and middle of wall then hang pictures of the same
Like everyone else said, you can freehand them on the wall if you really want to. I've found that alot of wallpaper stores have really big wall decorations that you can buy. They have many childrens themes too. They go on just like wallpaper and they can be removed later alot easier than having to repaint the whole room. If you've got a little bit of time, you might at least check into it. I did it in my daughters room when she was little. It turned out great, was short lived, but I was glad of the path I chose when it came time for the change. Good Luck.
Copy pictures from coloring books.
Go for it but you know the easiest way that i have found to decorate a room for a baby if you get coloring pages, color them, once you have all the ones you want there is a certain kind of glue that you can use on the wall that dries clear and nearly invisible and you just rub glue over your coloring pages it is removable with a certain chemical (not sure what) but ive seen it done and it look awesome inexpensive and creative he can even color some and you can make it his own...and dont listen to poeple like your first answer you only have a limited time on this earth as a grandparent do whatever you can to make them babies proud because you know from experience they will remember forever and never forget that experience....so what if you have to repaint it maybe you wont maybe your grandsons kids will be living in the house that you are in....go for it have fun bye bye
There are projectors on the market that can enlarge and project an image onto a wall, which then can be traced. The prices run from cheap to very pricey. Check art supply stores, the cheaper ones would work fine for what you need to do.
I rented a projector from my library that way we were able to trace in pencil after we decided where to place picture.Tissue paper taped in place, may also give u a great view etc etc before u paint;then u could also paint by number go for it.
You can get a projector (buy it or rent it) that's made especially for transferring images on the wall. Once it is projected up there, all you have to do is trace the image and then do as you would a coloring book.... color inside the lines! It works just great and can even work with fabric (I projected a piece of lace on the wall of a guest bedroom and then painted it...) It's amazing what you can do with these projectors. You can find them pretty much in any hobby or art supply store and you don't need to buy the most expensive one as they all work well. Have fun.... and your grandson's gonna be soooo happy!
Look for pictures from color books, the internet, etc. Scan them and print them on transparencies, then project them on the wall with an overhead projector. Trace the outlines of the objects, then you can fill them in with paint. I just did this for my son's room (great white sharks!) and it worked great.
