What color should i paint walls if i have red sofas?

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think ';classic french gray'; (# 0077) would look good.

You can also take a photo of your house %26amp; upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions %26amp; for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like. What color should i paint walls if i have red sofas?
It really depends on the brightness of your sofa.

Example:If your sofa is a deep burgundy, depending on the colour, a very bright wall colour is most likely NOT going to look attractive. You would much rather put a light brown, maybe a tan or beige colour.

Also, if you DID happen to paint your walls a tan/beige colour, consider buying tan/beige cushions or throws to tie it all together.

If your sofas are more of a bright red, you could go one of two ways: 1. Paint your walls white and buy white %26amp; black cushions/throws to go with. Or, 2. You could still pull off the brown look if you put the right accessories with it.

Hope it helps!! -Paige

p.s. absolutely no offense to 123, but i personally would not put any blue with red. What color should i paint walls if i have red sofas?
This might seem completely wacky, but if your sofas are a muted or orangy red, a dull cabbage green would look great.

Friends of mine had a rusty/orangy red living room with dull cabbage coloured curtains in their house when they first moved in - I LOVED it. There was just something so inviting about it. Unfortunately they painted it a very institutional shade of yellow.

Check out Behr's Carolina Parakeet, Citron or Honeydew. If you don't want to paint the whole room that colour, you could always use a more neutral colour, or a muted shade of the clour, and just paint the main wall/wall behind the sofa the darker shade.

I think that a dirty mustard color or dark grey with a touch of bluish green would look good as well.
Hi Alex,

Depends upon the shade of red..

The first colour which came to mind was biscuit - but the red I had in my mind may be nothing like your sofa!

I have attached below the web address for Dulux - a very popular paint brand in the UK - who claim to ';always know the colours which go';:-

My own sofa's are a burnt orange (not my choice) and I am going to tie in all the other colours in the room; rug, curtains, etc. by decorating in blue...

If your room is on the small side experts say that dark furniture against pale walls will make the space appear larger.

Happy decorating!
I would painted grey and get some brushed nickeled lamps and black lamp shades and black and white pictures framed in black frames.sort of this type

Depends on whether you want the sofas to pop or blend. Light khaki, chocolate brown, dark orange, royal blue... the possibilities are endless. Suggest you decide on some other item - curtains, area rug, throw pillows, and then make a decision.
If you have bright couches, I would suggest staying with a neutral or warm white on the walls.

If your couches are a dark red, I'd suggest a rich, warm brown.

I'm not an interior decorator, but I do have a backround with color theory.
Depends on the shade of red. Are they a barn red, more of a muted red, or an orange red?

I've always loved very pale blue with a true red.

I use a very light, buttercream yellow on apartments I rent - my tenants all LOVE it. It goes with anything and creates a warm ambiance.
What color are your cushions? Try accenting your sofas with beige cushions and find a similar color for your walls. Have fun! I love painting.
I dont think you should paint the walls red or something that would camaflogue the couch....i think white if its not already white....or mabey a baby blue...i dont know
